Beach Bound Babes : Part 3 Preppy

If your little man looks great in polos and plaid, and your little lady loves pearls and sweater sets, this post is for your polished little "Preps". Some of the best dressed style icons have dressed in preppy style, such as Audrey Hepburn and JFK. By sticking with classics, and steering clear of trends, they always looked well put together and timeless.

When styling, I like to use different scenarios, and put myself in the shoes of who I am styling.  For today's post I asked myself, "What would I want to wear sailing in Maryland?"  I saw myself wearing classic khaki shorts, a red stripe pullover, some Sperrys, and a bucket hat. Voi la, I have inspiration for the mini versions of Harvard law students.

Fashion Creds:
1. Mini Boden (www.nordstrom.com) 2. Janie and Jack (www.janieandjack.com)
3. Baby Gap (www.babygap.com) 4. Circo/ Target (www.target.com)
5. Hello Apparel (www.hellomerch.com/collections/hello apparel)
6. Janie and Jack (www.janieandjack.com) 7. Mini Boden (www.bodenusa.com)
8.  Sperry Top-Sider (www.nordstrom.com) 9. Baby Gap (www.babygap.com)

Starting off my shopping favorites is this Mini Boden one piece. Nothing is more classic than a one piece racerback bathing suit. This "hopscotch" swimmer features a playful print of 1920s swimsuit wearing ladies and gents, beach balls, and sail boats. This swimmer is available in sizes little girl 4-5 to big girl 9 to 10.

There is nothing cuter than a little girl wearing sunglasses, with a big smile on her face. These yellow polka dot sunnies, are featured in Janie and Jacks "Seaside Chalet" collection, and are sure to bring a grin to her face. The rounded curves give the glasses a retro appeal, and they feature flexible rubber ams, which make them more comfortable for your littles to wear. Pair these sunglasses with solid dark colors, to really make the bright yellow accessory pop!

Speaking of retro, this Baby Gap swimmer looks straight out of a 1920s swim catalogue. The little flutter sleeves, and classic white trim give the suit feminine and nautical details. Accessorize this swimmer with a retro swimming cap to give your little lady extra style points. This suit is for infants girls 0 to 3 months, to 18 to 24 months.

If preppy fashion is what you seek, nobody does it better than Janie and Jack for your little ones. I was introduced to this store from my completely adorable one year old baby cousin named Montgomery James (he already sounds like a future President, right?) He has the most fantastic preppy style, and can rock a polo, and a sweater vest like nobody's business. I am now completely hooked on this luxury store when shopping for special occasion, and unique pieces. This striped straw sun hat is again part of their "Seaside Chalet" collection, and fits 0 to 6 months, to size 8. You can complete the ensemble with a matching stripe terry dress found also found on their website.

One of the coolest up and coming clothing lines is a brand called Hello apparel, which is based out of Arizona. Known for their signature "hello" logo, which they screen on raglan sweaters, tote bags, tees, onesies, and now pillows, the apparel line has something for everyone in your family! This hello anchor onsie is perfect for your preppy babe to sport as they head out for a day on the yacht.

Next up is this adorable bucket hat that could work for both boys and girls! Great for keeping the sun out of their eyes, and sunburns off their face, this classic preppy accessory will complete your little ones swimwear ensemble. I found this particular navy bucket hat at Target for just $3.50 on their website. It comes in four different colors, white, navy, turquoise, and pink azalea.

If you haven't noticed, I might be a tad obsessed with Mini Boden. I love their bright colors, and playful prints! Their designs are unique, and the quality superb!  Preppy fashion usually comes in few prints such as argyle, and plaid, but I love stripes for a "beachy" preppy look. This red and white stripe tee has the coolest crab appliqué on it, that your sweet boy will look great in while building sandcastles in the sand. Called the "seaside t-shirt" you can find on Mini Bodens website, and fits babies 0 to 3 months to toddlers 2 to 3 years.

When I think of preppy footwear I immediately think of Sperrys boat shoes! While these are a must have for Mommy, Daddy, and Kid, these sandals by Sperry Top-Sider are great to wear when hitting the water. This is the ultimate preppy sandal, and fits boys 2 years old to 12 years old. (Size 6) you can find them on www.nordstrom.com

Rounding up our shopping guide are these "skipper" board shorts from Baby Gap. Sized to fit your toddler boys, these are perfect to wear for a day of boating. Whenever I see a yellow and navy stripe I think of rugby ( another notoriously popular preppy sport).  For more preppy inspiration see Prince William, Ralph Lauren, Jacqueline Onassis, and a modern approach "Gossip Girl" character Blair Waldorf.

I have finally finished this three day round up of Beach Bound Babes. Hopefully, you have enjoyed my shopping finds, and have found inspiration when styling your littles this summer! (Or winter if you live in Southern California).

Toddles Friends!

Yours Truly,
Melissa
